Frank and Chris DeweyThe Lord has had His own way of preparing the Deweys for the ministry He wanted them to carry out, first in India and then in Ukraine.

For Christine, this meant being born in London, England, and then being raised in St. Joseph, Missouri, where a pastor helped her understand the call of the Lord into missions. After finishing college, she earned a master’s degree in library science. During a later furlough, she finished her master’s degree in education.

For Frank, the Lord’s preparation began with Frank being born and raised in India to missionary parents, which has no doubt enabled us to obtain visas over the years to enter and reside in the country at a time when the doors for foreign missionaries have been closing. Frank’s preparation has also included seminary training and pastoral experience in the States, as well as a master’s degree from an Indian theological college.

Since 1976, the Deweys have been involved in a number of activities in India, mostly centered at South India Biblical Seminary where their focus of ministry has been teaching and training Indian young men and women for the work of the Lord in their own country. They have also been involved with the Missionary Prayer Band, the student-run organization promoting missions among the seminary community. Their desire has been to see Christian young people equipped and prepared to evangelize and disciple others in the country of India.

Having completed 30 years of ministry in India, the Deweys believe the Lord wants to use them with the experience they have gained in India to help develop Christian leadership in Ukraine. This will be accomplished through a combination of formal training, teaching in the Wesley Bible College, as well as through the informal equipping of leaders in Bible studies and one-on-one discipling. They are excited about new opportunities for service and training.

Currently on Home Ministry Assignment in the United States, the Deweys hope to begin their new ministry in Ukraine in the fall of 2008. They can be contact via e-mail or postal mail at World Gospel Mission; P.O. Box 948; Marion, Indiana 46952-0948. They also can be contacted through their blog.
