Beginnings. Wesley Bible College (WBC) was founded
in 1993 in Kieve by missionaries from the Evangelical Bible Mission (EBM)
for the purpose of glorifying God through the training of young
men and women to live for and serve Him.
In 1998, Bill and Betsy Tarr began their missionary work at the
Bible College. Click here to read
more about their ministry.
In September 2003, the Bible College rented rooms
on the 2nd and 3rd floors of a church/office building, and
another room in a nearby building for the college
library. Due to financial shortages, in the summer of 2005 the
college let go five staff members and gave up the use of the
large room/classroom on the 2nd floor so that all offices and
classrooms were on the third floor.
Currently. After a devastating fire in December 2005, WBC
moved to Uzhgorod, which is located some 500 miles west of Kiev.
With Sergey Bogomazyuk as our new college Director, the college
opened the fall 2006 semester with nine new students, a new
college secretary, librarian, and two new teachers. Classes are
temporarily being held n a Christian Conference Center in
Uzhgorod until the new facilities are ready in January 2007. The
college will have the space for a library, offices, chapel,
classrooms, and for the first time, men’s and women’s
dormitories!
Students. In its short time of existence, WBC has
trained students not only from many different parts of Ukraine,
but also from Russia, Georgia, and even Nigeria. The goal is to
train young people to go out and reach their own people, thereby
multiplying our efforts many times. They know their culture and
can relate better to the needs of their people than we will ever
be able to do. Click here to read testimony letters written by some of the
students. Their love for the Lord really shines through!
WBC is the only holiness Bible college in
the country and this gives us the privilege and responsibility
to help our students see their need for a total surrender of all
areas of their lives to the Lord, and then to share this
message, this life, with the people of Ukraine. WBC graduates
have gone out to many parts of Ukraine, to serve as pastors,
pastors' wives, Christian teachers, youth leaders, as well as in
other areas of Christian ministry.
